"Abortion-Free" | Ep. 1: Celebrate Good Times?
Now that Roe v. Wade is gone, abortion clinics have closed in many states. Pro-Life headlines announce these states are “abortion-free” and celebrate it as a massive victory. Megan wants to know if the headlines are true. Come with her to find out.
If women can still order abortion pills online, are there any truly “abortion-free” states? Megan wants to know exactly how easy it is to get an abortion in her state? Is it legal? And if it is legal, how many women are still doing it? Megan does some undercover investigation to see whether she could get an abortion right now in Oklahoma if she wanted one.
After Megan hears about the abolition movement from a Pro-Life leader, she wants to know why he doesn’t seem to like it. Why doesn’t he like a movement to abolish abortion? Isn’t that what we’re all fighting for? Megan decides to talk to abolitionist pastors and other leaders to find out what makes them different. Are their ideas crazy or are they constitutional? More importantly, are they biblical?
Megan wants to know why, if abolitionists are introducing legislation to abolish abortion, why isn’t it passing? Megan goes in to see her own daughter on ultrasound, and a pregnancy resource center director explains “The Letter” that opened her eyes to what is really going on in the Pro-Life movement. In fact, it looks like this letter from Pro-Life leaders has already helped keep abortion from being abolished in multiple states. But why?
Pro-Life leaders are telling Megan that women are victims of their abortions, and they should not be legally accountable for their actions. That’s why Pro-Life laws protect them. But are all women really victims? What about women who shout their abortions and celebrate them on social media? Are they victims too? Why do Pro-Life leaders say one thing and abolitionists say another, and what does this have to do with our laws?
In this final episode, Megan shockingly finds out that some newer Pro-Life bills have actually made it EASIER for women to abort inside supposedly “abortion-free” states. And it seems that most Pro-Life leaders do not EVER want babies to be equally protected. In fact, the Pro-Life headlines that sent her on this journey in the first place seem to be lulling people into ignorance and apathy. So what should Christians do now?
